What Is AuDHD Bites?
When I was late diagnosed with ADHD and Autism, YouTube channels such as Hayley Honeyman, Rach Does YouTube, I’m Autistic Now What?, and AuDHD Hub helped me make sense of both my diagnosis and many of the struggles I had experienced throughout life. Hearing people openly talk about their experiences made me feel seen, understood, and far less alone. A lot of things that had once felt confusing or shameful suddenly started to make sense.
Over time, I realised I wanted to give something back and add my own voice to the growing chorus of support for ADHD, Autism and AuDHD that exists online.
After years of masking, I made the decision to approach YouTube intentionally unmasked and unapologetic.
Rather than presenting myself as another man in a suit, I chose to show up as I actually am in everyday life, which is something I have intentionally carried over into this website and my coaching approach too.
One of my longest-standing special interests is the Goth subculture, so I decided to build the channel around a “Goth-Brained” aesthetic that reflects who I am and helps my work stand out in a way that feels authentically me. Having worked as a lecturer for many years, I also knew I wanted the channel to be educational, practical, and uplifting.
Each of my AuDHD Bites videos are structured around:
• understanding a specific AuDHD experience
• exploring why that experience happens
• reframing the shame or self-criticism often attached to the AuDHD experience
• and offering practical strategies that may help
At its core, AuDHD Bites exists for the same reason this coaching website exists: to share what has helped me, develop understanding and self-compassion, and build a shared language that helps people better advocate for themselves and their needs.
Why I’m Sharing This Here
I wanted to include AuDHD Bites on my coaching website because I know that coaching is not financially accessible for everyone right now.
A big part of why I started creating videos was because free online support helped me enormously during my own journey of understanding ADHD, Autism, and AuDHD. So, sharing free educational content feels like an important way of giving something back to the community that helped me.
I also know that finding the right coach can feel uncertain. Watching a few videos gives you the opportunity to hear how I communicate, get a feel for the way I approach AuDHD experiences, and decide whether my style feels like a good fit for you before ever reaching out.
